Dear friends,

Over the past few months we’ve played some amazing shows with our dear friend Rob, but with spring tours and the festival season around the corner, it looks as though he’ll simply be too busy with Dopapod to keep playing with Mondo Gecko. When Rob first joined MG a couple months ago we knew it was possibly temporary, but he’s such a great guy to be around and he’s an amazing guitarist (I’m pretty sure he’s the next Jimmy Herring) so we were were happy to have him.

That being said, we are just as excited for the future! We know the next Gecko family member is out there and we need your help to find ‘em! Here’s what we are looking for:

• An awesome guitarist (lead and rhythm) and singer (backups for sure, lead a plus).
• Songwriting and composition skills are a big plus.
• Career oriented – someone who is willing to make a serious investment of time and energy  for long term success… no more hired gun types
• A cool, down to earth team player.
• Music education, understanding of theory, and ability to read are all a plus.
• Between 21 and 30 years old.
• Love of jamming, good times, and great people.

Here are some things you can tell them about us:

• We play shows all around New England and New York.
• We have the coolest fans on the planet.
• We are working on our debut album.
• We’ve played show with acts such as The Breakfast, The Brew, U-Melt, and Strange Design.
• We’ve played at venues such as Harpers Ferry, Middle East, Stone Church, and Showcase Live.
• We plan on playing a bunch of festivals this summer and booking some short tours in the near future.
• We’ve got a great tour van.
• We plan on playing 4-10 shows a month and like to practice at least 2-3 times a week.

In the interim while we search for our newest member, we’ll be playing at least one show with our old band mate Brad (1/30 in Portland!!!) and a bunch of shows as a quartet (old school Mondo Gecko!)

Out of 160 or so bands, Mondo Gecko’s been selected as a Top Ten finalist in Magic Hat’s “We Want to Sponsor Your Band’s Tour” contest!

We’re so honored to have been selected… there are some seriously awesome, big time bands on the list! We’ve got a chance to win $1000 cash and some promo materials for an upcoming tour. That being said… here are a few reasons why you should vote for your favorite group of geckos:

1. If we win, we’ll spend the money on either A. a new PA so our music sounds better or B. the beginnings of a light rig so you eyes can be as dazzled as your ears at future shows.

2. It’s Magic Hat! I wear a freakin’ magical hat every show… Walley says it’s a stupid hat but I say magical. ;-P

3. We’re the only “jam band” on the list … and Magic Hat is THE local Vermont jam lot scene beer!!!

4. Cause we said “Please”?

5. I’m guessing that MG and Co. have consumed more Magic Hat #9 that all the other bands on the list combined… so really they are just giving us out money back.
