Well the 2010 Festival Season is officially underway! Mondo Gecko kicked things off with an amazing weekend up in Harmony, Maine at Peace Jam Fest (an event thrown by Maine Vocals).

I.  Simple World. Beacons. Smokey Mountains. Late Night > Car Wash Jam > Ghostbusters > X-Files Jam > 2001. Other Side. Wounded Dreamer.

I. UFO > WIM > Weekapaug Groove > Poncho. Relics > Stir It Up > Relics. So They Say.

E. High Gravity.

E2. Music Never Stopped.

Show Notes: UFO was unfinished. Debut of So They Say (also known as When In Rome). Poncho’s story involved an unground subway system exploration and had an Eastern Maine Community College teases – a hilarious, catchy tune that Eric Green Party had played earlier in the festival.

Festival Notes

Bands could be clearly heard from almost anywhere in the festival site, and as a result many in attendance listened from their campsites… until Mondo Gecko’s set Saturday when it seamed like everyone who came to dance decided to do so during our set! As you might expect, this was both shocking and exciting for the band, and we preceded to rock out!

Earlier in the week at band practice something special happened. Aaron and Matt showed up in the middle of a jam that Luke and Eric had already started. They did not stop to talk, say hello or even really make eye contact. The band preceded to play for several hours without stopping, segueing between different grooves and moods. No specific songs were played and there was no non-musical communication. The night was a milestone for the band and the results can be heard in the improvisation at Peace Jam.  Check out the jam during Late Night as an example.

The festival also marked the debut of Mondo Gecko’s G.A.L.A.C.T.I.C. Anthology (Vol. 1.) – which stands for Guest Attendance Log And Collection of Thoughts, Illustrations, and Compositions.

5/9/09 Boston, MA Setlist

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Set list is totally out of order and probably missing some tunes. This is as close as we can remember:

Jam > L.A. Woman. Poncho. Scarlet Begonias > Fire on the Mountain.

Crosseyed and Painless.
Relics (with J.S. Bach Tease).
Shakedown Street > Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) > Another Shakedown in the Brick Street Mashup
WIM > Wounded Dreamer > My Sharona Tease.
Musical Chairs*.
Portrait of Tracy #.
Cocaine Blues
2001.
Late Night.
2001.
Walking on the Sun.
High Gravity.
Simple World.

# Solo Walley.
*After the set break, Aaron was MIA and the rest of the band traded instruments…giving birth to the first “Musical Chairs Jam”. The results were jamtastic to say the least.
This was a party/show since much of the band had either just graduated or were about to graduate. After the set break, Aaron was MIA and the rest of the band traded instruments… the results were jamtastic to say the least.
